LINE AND LIGHT
Karin Sulimma & Mounty R. P. Zentara

Karin Sulimma's drawings reflect lines and their shadows of her former sculptural installations (Series: Lotus, 2008). In her paper works, the interplay of real and fictive figures of her installation-rooms are detained by the artist in a minimalist manner. Simplicity and clarification of lines seem Sulimma's work to appear facile, nearly fragile, without divining the complex process and recognizing the sublime of her installations.

Mounty R. P. Zentara's works rests on this metaphor of the cage as a viewing machine. His cages are "eye-catchers". They address the eye to show problematic issues regarding the gaze. Wherever he interprets or excavates his cages he does this like an archaeologist finding cages in everyday locations, so marking the blind spots that have been concealing what one doesn't want to see, and now has to find.
