This is a continuation of a piece of work exploring the connection between initial drawn line and eventual physical form. To develop this idea I want to use this opportunity to include the audience, allowing them to participate in both the making and the inspiration of the piece. I would ask the audience to take pieces of paper and look to someone else (or something else) within the space and to draw it by cutting out a shape or shapes from the paper, to best resemble what they are looking at. What they create can be as abstract or as figurative as they feel necessary, but all pieces of paper will be used. These cutouts of paper will then be hung as they are being finished as part of the event, creating a growing ensemble that I hope will reflect the the themes of ‘togetherness’ in its clustered collection of each individuals work.

My hope is that, by removing the actual visible line created by pen or pencil, the fear of starting a drawing or drawing at all, which bothers many will be eradicated, it also removes the possibility of erasing any line made. Also through this there is a form of communication, a connection with those around you, drawing one another and the space you are sharing with them. Everyone’s visual language is different, I want in this piece to highlight the validity of anyone’s input to the arts.

By having the audience as both the creator and be the subject this piece aims to question the arts place within the world, and the artists place within art and the relationships between them and the audience. Is contemporary art accessible? Who does it really engage with? and who needs who more?

Materials and equipment: Coloured Paper, coloured Card, String/Wire, Tape, camera. Also depending on the space lighting and something to hang the work off of. Currently a student at Kingston School of Art in my final year studying Fine Art. I have previously participated in group exhibitions across London and put on my own shows.
