Winter Rites is a fundraising event in support of the artist
run initiative / gallery space Five Years, which was founded in 1998
and operates on a non-commercial basis without regular public funding.

Jeremy Reed & The Ginger Light
"Jeremy Reed's talent is almost extraterrestrial in its brilliance. He is Rimbaud reconfigured as the Man who fell to Earth, a visitor from deep space whose time machine was designed by Lautreamont and de Sade, and powered by the most exotic fuels the imagination has ever devised." J.G. Ballard
"The most beautiful, outrageously brilliant poetry in the world." Bjork

Stewart Home
"Stewart Home is a counter-cultural icon who, as a writer, artist and thinker has been involved with cultural and counter-cultural activities for more than 30 years." Nigel Ayers

Nick Hudson
"...his excellent debut album TERRITORIES OF DISSENT ...highly fucking beautiful in a 'gazing together into Biba mirrors with smeared lippy' kind of manner, archly male in a La Düsseldorf stylee, exquisitely bed-sit in a rather schooled and possibly seaside manner ... oh, and full of short, near Classical instrumentals that always fuck off way too quickly to destroy Nick's metaphor." Julian Cope

Esther Planas / Dirty Snow
"Dirty Snow show a fierceness that would make children cry. Most striking is undoubtedly the leading lady. She looks like Shelley Duvall of 'The Shining' fame. Wendy Torrence armed with an arsenal of twisted, tortured writhing, gyrating 'dance' moves to send Jack Nicholson straight to hell. No discernible words came from her mouth, and if they did were hidden under the screams and wails of that wild banshee woman. But hey, who needs words anyway."
James Bridge Williams

Andrew Cooper
In Cooper's performance  the wooden Ron Baret and Stewart with special guest Johnny Sweet Apple will be performing and spluttering a triad  on the different positions in 'art' and political endarkenment, they will also be prepared to answer questions.

Hope you can make it along to
