The spectator feels awkward. The actor fixedly looks at him through the screen. The actor is already dead, the spectator however, not, not yet.
A useless show. Supreme enjoyment for the rich and a sad spectacle for the others, who have already experienced this and all the rest.
The old age, the decline, the physical decay
are places where the body has won. The body instead wants to be silent, it wants to believe in everything.
canecapovolto group was founded in Catania in 1992, based on the model of the philosophical brotherhood. Through various experiences that privilege the scientific nature of communication and, especially, its impact on the spectator, their themes constantly refer to the social universe, with a particular consideration of the society of spectacle and the mass-man (the ordinary man); strengthening the link with situational practices. canecapovolto established their identity and message on the in-between areas of viewing and listening. This unfolds through: super-8 cinema, videos experimenting with ‘cognitive dissonance’, a cinematographic interpretation of Radiogramma, paper-based collages, homeopathy principles applied to videoworks against the war, happenings and installations based on the experiential completion by the ‘spectators’.
